Before embarking on this incredible journey, I envisioned Laos as a typical third-world country, lacking essential infrastructure and educational resources, with impoverished citizens struggling to obtain basic necessities. While some of these assumptions turned out to be true, I was astonished by the warmth and optimism of Lao citizens. Although we experienced the barrier of language, we could interact with each other and create a remarkable memory together.
In my essay, I advocated for the integration of technology and innovative learning approaches to enhance the educational foundation for children. After visiting local schools and engaging directly with the students, I was convinced that the establishment of firm educational opportunity is crucial, but can not be without communication between internal and external organizations. Fundamental resources such as the internet and basic learning materials remain scarce, making them a necessary starting point.
Moreover, I was stimulated by the dedication of the Lao teachers, who, despite limited means, diligently committed to their students. The children, in turn, were respectful, eager to learn, and adaptable. This experience ingrained in me a lesson that true education is not solely defined by the tools available, but by the passion and enthusiasm of those who teach and learn.
This trip has been significantly educational, not only to understand Laos, but also as a profound lesson in the true value of compassionate and sustainable support. I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity and hope to return in the future to contribute even more meaningfully.

この素晴らしい旅に出発する前、私はラオスを「典型的な発展途上国」、すなわち基礎的なインフラや教育資源が不足し、人々が最低限の生活を送るのにも苦労している国だと想像していました。実際にそうした面もありましたが、それ以上に私を驚かせたのは、ラオスの人々の温かさと前向きな姿勢でした。言葉の壁はあったものの、私たちは心を通わせ、素晴らしい思い出を共有することができました。

私のエッセイでは、子どもたちの教育基盤を強化するために、テクノロジーや革新的な学習手法の導入を提案しました。現地の学校を訪れ、生徒たちと直接関わる中で、教育機会の確立がどれほど重要かを改めて実感しました。ただし、それは現地と外部の組織との間にしっかりとした連携と対話があってこそ実現できるものです。インターネットや基本的な教材といった教育に必要な基盤は今なお非常に乏しく、まずはそこから整える必要があります。また、限られた環境の中でも生徒のために尽力するラオスの先生方の献身的な姿勢に、大きな刺激を受けました。子どもたちもまた、礼儀正しく、学ぶ意欲があり、状況への適応力も高いと感じました。この経験から私は、真の教育とは与えられたツールだけで成り立つのではなく、教える側・学ぶ側双方の情熱と熱意こそが本質であると学びました。

今回の旅は、ラオスという国を理解するだけでなく、「思いやりのある持続可能な支援とは何か」ということを深く考える、非常に教育的な経験でした。このような貴重な機会をいただけたことに心から感謝し、今後も再びラオスを訪れて、さらに意義のある形で貢献していきたいと強く思っています。
